My laptop was getting way too hot, so i decided to make my own laptop stand. Its designed to be lightweight, pretty, and cooling enhancing, for those people who demand a lot from their machines. I also reduced the material cost by using the minimum amount of parts.
Here is the .svg file for the lucky fellows having access to a laser cutter. Mine was made out of of 5mm thick acrylic, so you have to adjust the design to fit other materials. And of course do enhance it with your own Repper Pattern !

These past few weeks in the Lightheaded Ludenstown,
We started the promotion of the Repper website by mailing a couple of blogs about our product. This was a success, a few tweets by famous internet figures (thanks guys) skyrocketed our daily visitors count. When that hype seemed to be over Wouter had the great idea of lasering a Repper pattern in a banana, which quickly was featured on boingboing.net. A lot of controverse emerged about the image, because it looked fake. Some sceptic people claimed the hands were fake and the banana seemed photoshopped (adding to the hype), so Wouter went out and removed any doubt about it.
I tweaked a lot of little stuff on the Repper website; i’m busy adding dutch language support so we can start our dutch advertisement campaign. This includes a contest in which people can participate by submitting designs enhanced by Repper patterns. Prizes include a custom lasered moleskine or a myKea furniture sticker!
More news next week!
Behold! The website we’ve been working on for the last two weeks is online ! Go check it out at repperpatterns.com. We even made an integrated community-part; now you can all post your awesome designs made with the Repper. So hurry up, register and make some awesome shit !
In other news,
The DDW was pretty cool, though i haven’t seen a lot of it, because we had a lot of work at our hands. Racing through the Graduation Show, i was intrigued by a round table made by someone, which you can adjust in size by rotating it. I meant to include pictures and the name of the person, but the internet-coverage of the event seems to be really bad and i couldn’t find it.
We also gave a laser-cutting/engraving workshop downstairs in the klokgebouw at Trespa’s stand. Met some nice people, solved some lasering problems, another day at work.
And again, check out the new repper website at repperpatterns.com.
We finished the Design for the Repper Webite. Its gonna be super-awesome and pretty, plus it has community functions! Did I mention it was gonna be slick? Though i can’t still show you any of it; we’ll keep that for the release date upcoming Friday.
The size of this project makes this and last weeks post a bit boring and without lasers, but i’ll surprise you next week with some awesome stuff about the just-started Dutch Design Week.
Now lets html/css/php like hell, though part of the weekend never seems to die, a part being my headache.
This week in ludenstown,
We’ve been busy trying to come op with a good concept for a new website for the Repper. Trying to design a website for other designers means everything takes twice as long, because everyone has a sophisticated opinion about the project. Lotte and I both finished mockups of the pages and this week we’re going to combine them to one awesome page.
I’ll add some pictures later this week
This week in ludens:town,
Wouter and Alexander fixed a stand at the Textiel-Museum: Textielweken in Tilburg to promote the Repper and the MagicBox. Check the link for the poster; WTF is up with the pony?
And, yes, okay, i admit it, there was a laser for us to use (seems to be our fate): we let people enlist to a workshop and helped them build their own magic-box with repper print on it. The museum was mainly populated by middle-aged-knitting-eager-women which were really nice and thankful and even shared our enthusiasm about lasers.
Next, we’re close to finishing work on the Mykea plugin, its looking slick, and the interface is fully functional! Next week i’ll include some pictures.
Also I’ve been making some mockups for a potential Repper website, which we are going to construct after we made up our minds about the message we want to send in the Repper marketing campaign. A lot of good and also a lot of utterly stupid stuff came up in our brainstorms : “Repper, the foundation of timeless design”, “Repper, the origin of patterns”, the very modest “Repper, the basis of creation” and “Repper, mom’s dirty little secret”…
By the way, if you haven’t tried the repper before try it HERE, it’s really cool.
Besides our usual idiocy we decided to be noble for once and gave away a copy of the Repper Pro to someone who helped us design a selection box. Okay, we promised to do that beforehand, but still +1 to charisma.
Tomorrow (Friday) I have the day off, because apparently the “Internship Rulebook” is forcing me to do so: I don’t complain. So w00t. till next week!
This week, we received our very own Laser Cutter at studio:ludens. It is provided by lion lasers to help us presenting the Magic-Box at the Dutch Design Week. And that’s not all, last Friday we won a 3d-printer at the “PICNIC” gathering in Amsterdam, because we took part in the Unlimited Design Contest using the newly upgraded Magic-Box tool. So this week, our office reeks of burning carton, plastics and is just a plain big mess. I’ve even laser engraved my old acoustic guitar, and designed a laptop-stand out of cardboard. Pics Included! Now lets finish the myKea Repper user interface..
has been mainly about creating the myKea version of the Repper. Again i’ve been busy mastering flex 4 and i’ve also done some visual designing on the side; always a nice thing to do. I’ve included a screenshot of the mockup in this post of course. Today we got some good news at studio:ludens, starting this monday, a laser cutting firm is going to make a laser printer available to us ! So we’ve got a LASER, YEAH ! Now lets make some awesome prints and patterns.
